Project: Major Risk Identification and Management – Tank Farm

Summary

The company is involved in the storage and handling of petroleum products. A need for identify, assessing and managing major risk across the business and its operations in Nigeria and Ghana was identified and Melios was contracted to implement a system to achieve major risk management across the entire organisation.

The project included Bowtie Assessment of Hydrocarbon Products Storage and Loading Tank Farms spread across Nigeria and Ghana.

Melios was able to establish a framework for identifying, screening, and assessing major risk hazards across TSL operations. An added benefit of this project is that it increased awareness among TSL personnel, of what constitutes a major risk hazard, which helps to significantly improve safety and enhance operational performance.

The quality the work and value adding risk reduction measures identified by Melios was recognised by TSL and led to an additional requirement to train 118 Nigeria based personnel.
